Code of Conduct

We are fully committed to provide a safe and welcoming environment to all participants. Our main purpose is to have fun in the best way possible. In order to achieve this, we have established a set of rules and expectations that all event attendees are expected to conform. These rules were created to ensure the behavior of any one individual or group of attendees does not disturb the enjoyment of another attendee, nor detract from the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere of the festival. ​

Harassment

We will NOT tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Harassment includes, but is not limited to the following guidelines:

  • offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin, age, or dance level 

  • deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording

  • sustained disruption of performances, workshops or other events

  • inappropriate physical contact

  • unwelcome sexual attention

 

If a person says “no” or asks you to leave them alone, you MUST do so. Do NOT follow them or attempt to disrupt their festival experience in any way. If you continue to provide unwelcome attention to another attendee, you may have your pass revoked without refund, you may be removed from the premises, and you may be barred from attending future Bachata Sensual events. 

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the Chicago Loves Bachata team may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event with no refund or payments.

If an individual stalks, harasses, or attempts to assault you at a Chicago Loves Bachata event, please report that individual to a member of the event security staff as soon as possible, and appropriate action will be taken. If You notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the event staff immediately.

This prohibition against harassment applies to not only attendees, but also everyone employed by Chicago Loves Bachata, volunteer staff, guests, artists, and hotel employees. All reports will be treated as confidential. We strongly encourage you to address your issues privately with any of our staff members who are organizing the event. 

Alcohol & Substance Abuse

The sale or distribution of any illegal or controlled substances is prohibited at Chicago Loves Bachata events. Any individual found distributing such substances will be removed and reported directly to the local authorities. Chicago Loves Bachata asks that alcoholic beverages be consumed in the privacy of a hotel room and NOT taken into any festival spaces (exception is BYOB venues for Weekenders when allowed by the venue). 

Liability Waiver & Acknowledgment of Risk

Any artist/dancer participating in a dance activity takes a certain incumbent risks. These include, but are not limited to, sprains, pulled muscles, broken bones, etc. By purchasing/acquiring a pass, the dancer(s)/artist(s), voluntarily agree to assume all risks and responsibilities for any such injury or accident which might occur during any of the event activities (classes, rehearsals, performances, parties, etc.) I also exempt, release, indemnify, and hold harmless Chicago Loves Bachata, Bachata Sensual Events USA, its partners, affiliates, and sponsors, as well as its owners, agents, teachers, volunteers, assistants, employees, guest artists, and/or students, in both their official and private capacities, (each a "Person" and collectively the "Collective Persons") from any and all liability claims, demands, or causes of action whatsoever from any damage, loss, injury, to my property which may arise out of or in connection with participation in any classes or activities conducted by Bachata Sensual Events USA personal or its Committee / Organizers / Producers. Chicago Loves Bachata, Bachata Sensual Events USA, its affiliates, producers, and the host venues assume no responsibility for personal injury or property lost at its events. 

Photographs and Promotional Material Policy

Participants at all Chicago Loves Bachata Events grant their permission to be photographed or recorded by authorized Bachata Sensual individuals. By purchasing your pass, you inherently grant Chicago Loves Bachata staff permission to use such images or footage for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to grant this permission, please inform Chicago Loves Bachata staff or security.

Payments to Chicago Loves Bachata 

Chicago Loves Bachata accepts cash and credit card payments through our registration system. We will attempt to resolve any dispute involving a credit card payment to Chicago Loves Bachata following the tenets of good faith and fair dealing. Charge-backs (denying payment to a credit card company for a specific charge) that are made for the sole purpose of avoiding payment, made without sufficient cause, or that are made without first attempting to resolve the dispute with Chicago Loves Bachata may result in permanent revocation of attendance privileges and possible legal action. 

All Sales are Final and NON-Refundable, however, in the rare occasion that Chicago Loves Bachata agrees to process a refund, it must be processed on the same credit card for which the original purchase occurred.

Miscellaneous 

  • Chicago Loves Bachata welcomes everyone; however, we reserve the right to deny or revoke the attendance of any individual, at any time, for any reason.

  • Anyone who accepts a Chicago Loves Bachata Events pass agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Chicago Loves Bachata, The MOB LLC, or its associates, from any claim for personal injuries or other damages or equity arising out of any individual’s activities at Chicago Loves Bachata Events, even if such injury or damage is caused by negligence or gross negligence by or on the part of Chicago Loves Bachata.
